What are home visits and do I have to have one?
No, you do not need to have a home visit that is your choice. Home visits are when the teacher comes to your home to visit with you and your child. The students seem to really enjoy seeing their teacher outside of the classroom. I visit your home for 10-15 minutes to discuss any questions you have and tell you a little about what is going on in class.
What do I do if my child is going to be absent?
It is very important for your child to be in attendance every day possible. Because we learn new things every day it may be difficult for your child to catch up if they are frequently absent. However if your child has a fever, please do not send them to school. If you must keep him/her out of school for the day for any reason, send a not or email prior to the absence if possible. If you do not know in advance, you may call the school office the day of the absence to report it at (512) 284 9880. When the student returns to school he/she must bring a note from a doctor or parent.
How can I get in contact with Mrs. Meck?
The first thing your child does every day when he/she gets in class is empty their folder. They put notes in the file bin with their name on it. So you can feel free to send me a note with any questions or concerns and I will send you a note back that day.
You can call the school (512) 284 9880 and leave me a voicemail. I will check messages at 3:30 pm and get back to you.
The best way to get a hold of me is by email: kmeck@harmonytx.org. I check my email frequently throughout the day and I will respond when I get a free moment.
Can my child celebrate their birthday in class?
Children may celebrate their birthdays in school. A special treat may be sent to be shared at our regular snack time. You may either sent it with your child or drop it off in the office by 9 am and I will pick it up. Please, do not send cake that needs to be sliced. Cupcakes are fine. Unfortunately, parents are not to come to the classroom on this day.
What are good snacks to bring?
In class we promote healthy eating. Some examples of healthy snacks are: goldfish, fruit (cut up or prepackaged), veggies, fruit snacks, yogurt, crackers, chex mix, trail mix, graham crackers, string cheese, granola bars, animal crackers, or anything your child enjoys! Feel free to venture out of these choices they are just examples.
