Our last kindergarten field trip is next Wednesday, April 9th. All money and permission slips for the field trip is due THIS FRIDAY! No late payments will be accepted because we need to confirm our seats on Friday afternoon.
Armadilly Chili Night is next Thursday, April 10th! I hope to see all of you there for an exciting end of the year brain break! If you are going to cook chili (which would be greatly appreciate) please let me know so we know how much to expect!
Scholastic Book Orders will be placed on April 15th. Scholastic is an inexpensive way to stock up on books for the summer to make sure your child does fall into the "summer slide group".
I can't believe this year is almost over... I feel like it was just yesterday that your baby came into my class and now he/ she is growing up and about to be a first grader.

Kindergarten Presents Armadilly Chili Night
We have
all been working so hard this year and it is time for a little brain break and
some fun!
On April
10th Kindergarten teachers will be hosting a night inspired by one
of our favorite books, Armadilly Chili.
We would
like to invite you and your student to join us from 4:00-5:00 in Cafeteria 1
for a good ol’ fashion chili contest, a reading of the book and a fun craft.
We would
like some fabulous volunteers to make their best tasting chili to enter into
our contest. Students and parents will get to try the different chilies and
vote on their favorite. There will be a prize if your chili wins!!
We will
split the contest into two categories, vegetarian and non- vegetarian, to
entertain all taste buds.
We would
love to make this a fun and memorable evening for our kids so we appreciate any
and all volunteers.
Please
fill out the bottom portion and return it no later than April 3rd.
(The sooner the better!)

Sweet Berry Farm Field Trip
We had a BLAST on our field trip to Sweet Berry Farm! The students were able to pick their own container of strawberries, we learned about ladybugs and how they help strawberry plants, plant a pumpkin seed, play SplatBerry, feed the goats, and eat homemade ice cream. We also had a very long bus ride to enjoy talking to friends, singing songs, and sleeping!
Here's a peek into our experience...

Great Start to St. Patricks Theme Week/ Rainbows
We went all in today with learning, and we accomplished a whole lot! I also heard my favorite words, "This was the best day ever!" I love hearing them say that because it means they are having fun, learning something new and often have no idea that both are happening! I can't wait for them to see what we have in store for the rest of the week!
Here is a peak into what we did today!
In Reading we read the story There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover! We all love to read the different old lady book. The students love figuring out what she is going to swallow and what it will turn into at the end of the story! We worked on comprehension and had to recall what color each object she swallowed was.
In Writing we learned about the different colors in a rainbow. The students had to pick their favorite color and write two different things that are that color.
In Math we played a game with the different objects from There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover! The students worked in groups and had to graph each object they picked and then answer questions after about their graphs.
I think their favorite part of today was Science when they were making a rainbow of pasta. All of kindergarten went out side and created a science experiment with dried pasta, rubbing alcohol, food coloring and a whole lot of shaking. They were able to pick their color and watch the chemical reaction dye their pasta. (Sorry for the messy clothes but I promise they had a lot of fun!) Each student will get a bag full of different colored and shaped pasta. We will use this as a math manipulative throughout the year and then students will be able to take it home to help them continue to work on math as it gets increasingly more difficult!
I was so impress with all of the Leprechaun Traps. The students were able to present their traps and explain to their friends how they were going to be able to trap the Leprechaun. Here are a few to share!
Happy Monday Y'all!
