Easter Unit

We worked revolved our whole week around things Easter. We did English with Easter, Easter Math, and Eastern Science.  Week of March 25-29
We did an experiment with our five senes and jelly beans, it was pretty funny to watch. The first round students had to close their eyes and plug their nose. They could only use their sense of taste and guess what color they had. The second round students had to close their eyes. They could tase and smell this time to make their guess. Third round the students were able to use their eyes to see what color the jelly bean was.

Some of our friends got a black jelly bean, can you see how much they enjoyed them!

We were able to each dye some egg too!

Chick and Egg Unit

We had so much fun with our Chick/ Egg Unit.

We learned all about Chicks and their life cycle and then we spent the week doing different egg experiments. Here is a look into our week! (April 1-5)

On Monday we put the eggs in vingear and watched it for two days and saw the shell disappear and the egg turn rubbery.
On Wednesday we put the eggs in corn syrup and observed what happened. Guess what, the eggs shrunk!
On Thursday we tried to see if we could get the eggs back to size by adding colored water.
On Friday when we got to school they almost doubled in size. You know what we decided to do with something that big and exciting? EXPLODE them!!!

Master Garderners!!!

Today we had a very exciting day, we started our Earth Day Unit by planting! We had a master gardener from Denton County come to the school and teach us all about planting. Once we learned all about plants and became little masters ourselves we were able to start planting.

Here are some pictures of our adventure. Next time you go through the drop off line check out our gardens!

A lot going on don't miss out!

Just a reminder students are selling boxes of chocolate for the fundraiser raiser right now. This time around we are raising money to build a new and larger playground! The student from each class that sells the most boxes of chocolate is entered into a drawing.

We are also collecting pop tabs from Ronald McDonald House. The class that collects the most will receive a class party. Lets come together and see how many our class can collect to help the children and families in need.
Here is a little excerpt about the Ronald McDonald House:
The Ronald McDonald Houses are a “Home Away From Home” for thousands of families every year who must travel to the Kansas City area to receive medical treatment for a sick or injured child. Together, the two Ronald McDonald Houses (Cherry Street House & Longfellow House) provide temporary lodging to as many as 60 families each night while their children undergo vital medical care. The family Suites inside our Longfellow House, allow us to serve immuno-suppressed children and their families (i.e. organ transplants and bone marrow transplants). Both Houses offer a warm and welcoming place to sleep, as well as full kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, living rooms and recreation areas to provide a homey environment where families may relax away from the stresses of the hospital and meet other families experiencing similar crises.

Armidilly Chili Night- is April 25th at 5:30! This is the first annual Chili cook off. The winning chili from each section Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian will win a prize from student and parent.

Last field trip will be April 29th. We are going to the Dallas Theatre to see Sleeping Beauty. Since we had to purchase the tickets in advance only the first 8 parents will be able to attend. Turn in your permission slips ASAP!

Graduation orders are in and next is graduation day! Graduation will be Friday May 24th at 8:15 am. All students MUST arrive at school no later than 7:45 that day in order to be able to graduate. Parents are to drop their students off in the back, park and sign in at the front office. We will meet you in the gym promptly at 8:15. No parents are allowed in the classroom or up the ramp that day for any reason.
